Mother dead, son injured after truck hits them in Dhaka's Turag area

A woman died and her 16-year-old son suffered injuries after a truck hit them in Dhaka's Turag area this morning.

The deceased was identified as Ambia Begum (48), wife of Mozammel Haque from Chandpur.

The accident occurred around 6:30am at Kamarpara when Ambia along with her husband and two sons was walking to nearby bus stoppage.

"We were walking along the road to catch a bus to go to our village home. Suddenly, a truck hit my mother and brother from behind, leaving them injured," said Ambia's elder son Shamsuddin.

They were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) after giving primary treatment at a local hospital.

DMCH doctors declared Ambia dead around 9:00am, said inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of the hospital's police outpost.

Ambia's younger son Mohiuddin is receiving treatment at the hospital.

Shamsuddin and his father escaped unhurt.

The body of Ambia was sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy.
