Mother, daughter drown as boat sinks 

A woman and her daughter were killed as a boat sank in the Gazaria river in Barishal's Mehendiganj upazila yesterday noon.

The victims are Mahinur Begum, 55, and her daughter Nasreen Akhter, 25, of Darir Char Khajuria union.

According to the passengers' relatives, three children remained missing.

The fire service, coast guard and river police went to the spot and started a joint rescue operation.

The relatives of the missing are rushing to the river bank. The trawler was carrying 25 passengers.
