Man dies in Mohakhali road accident

A man died and another suffered injuries after a pick-up van, carrying them, hit a covered van in Dhaka's Mohakhali area early today.

The deceased was identified as Ismail Hossain (32), an employee of New Ma Motors shop in Dholaikhal area.

His employer Mohammad Johnny received treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

The accident took place around 4:30am under Mohakhali Flyover when they were returning to Dhaka by the pick-up van after delivering products in Mymensingh.

"We were sitting beside the driver who lost control over the steering and hit the covered-van from behind. Pedestrians took us to DMCH where doctors declared Ismail dead around 5:30am," said Johnny. 

He, however, could not say anything about the pick-up van driver immediately.

Father of two sons, Ismail used to live at a mess in Dhaka but his family lives in Senbagh upazila in Noakhali.

The body was sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy, said Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost.
