Man dies after truck hits rickshaw van in Dhaka's Baily Road

A man died and another was injured after a truck hit their rickshaw van on Baily Road in Dhaka this morning.

Deceased Nure Alam (40) used to supply eggs to shops from Tejgaon wholesale market.

Another van-puller Tuhin Hossain (38) is receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital for injuries in his legs.

A truck of a cement factory hit the rickshaw van from behind near Circuit House mosque around 4:00am as they were carrying eggs to Keraniganj's Kholamora area, said Firoz Ahmed, owner of the van garage, quoting witnesses. 

Pedestrians took them to DMCH where doctors declared Alam dead around 7:00am, he said.

Mohaiminul Hasan, a sub-inspector of Raman Police Station, said they seized the truck but its driver fled away.

The body was kept at hospital morgue for autopsy.
