Locked inside house, 2 children burned to death

Two children were burned to death in Madaripur after they were left unattended in a locked house that caught fire this morning.

The victims were identified as Rudra Baidhya, two and a half years old, and Manab Baidhya, one year old, said Monwar Hossain Chowdhury, officer-in-charge of Madaripur Sadar Police Station.

Their mother and grandmother left them unattended and went out of the house after locking the door from outside.

When locals noticed smoke billowing out of the house, they rushed to the spot and doused the fire.

One of the two children died on the spot while the other died at a local hospital.

OC Monwar said the mother and grandmother had not returned till evening, and police were looking for them.
