Helper killed in Munshiganj road accident

A helper of a lorry was killed in a road accident on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway at Bhaterchar in Munshiganj's Gazaria upazila this morning.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Manik, 28, of Chakaria upazila of Cox's Bazar, our Munshiganj correspondent reports.

Confirming the incident, Gazaria Fire Service Officer Ali Azgar said the container lorry overturned after colliding with a road divider.

Around 7:00am, firefighters rushed the scene, rescued injured Manik from under the lorry and sent him to Gazaria Upazila Health Complex. Doctors declared the victim brought dead, the official said.

The driver escaped after the accident, the official added.
