Fire at Ctg tyre depot under control, train service resumes

The fire that broke out at a warehouse of tyre in Chattogram city's Dewanhat area this afternoon has been brought under control after two hours.

The fire originated at the warehouse around 12:45pm and was brought under control around 2:40pm, our local correspondent reports quoting sources at Chattogram Fire Service and Civil Defence, Agrabad.

Due to the fire at the depot, train communication between Dhaka and Chattogram got disrupted.

However, the train service resumed after one and a half hours when the blaze was brought under control.

On information, 12 firefighting units rushed to the spot and were working to bring the fire under control, the fire service sources said.

Talking to The Daily Star around 1:45 pm, Officer-in-Charge of Double Mooring Police Station Md Shakhawat Hossain said police personnel were also present on the spot and no casualties were reported till then.

Worn-out tyres collected from different areas were used to be stored in the warehouse, the OC said.
