Father, son killed as truck crashes into roadside tree in Khagrachhari

A man and his son were killed in a when a truck they were travelling on lost control and hit a roadside tree in at Budong Para of Guimara upazila in Khagrachhari this morning.

The victims were identified as Jibon Majumdar (50) and his son Rajdip Majumdar (12) of Manikchhari of the district, said Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Guimara Police Station.

The accident took place when Jibon and his son were travelling to Khagrachhari Sadar from Manikchhari on a cement-laden truck, the OC said.

When they reached Budong Para of Guimara upazila area around 9am, the truck crashed into a roadside tree after its driver lost control of the steering, leaving Jibon and his son dead on the spot.

The truck driver was also critically injured, the OC told our Chattogram staff correspondent.

On information, police recovered the bodies and sent them to Khagrachhari Sadar Hospital for autopsy, the OC added.
