Elderly man dies after pickup hits him

An elderly pedestrian died yesterday after being hit by a pickup on Phulbari-Nageshwari road in Kurigram's Phulbari upazila.

Kanu Chandra Sen, 66, from Dharmapur village of Kashipur union, was on his way to a local bazaar.

Witnesses said a speeding pickup, headed towards Nageshwari from Phulbari, hit the elderly man in Dharmapur.

Locals took the victim to a hospital where the doctor declared him dead.

Police seized the pickup but its driver fled the scene, said Phulbari Police Station OC Fazlur Rahman.
