Death toll rises to 2 as another injured dies

Another person who suffered injuries during last night's fire in a residential building in Gulshan-2 died at a city hospital early today. 

It brings the death toll from the fire to two.  

The deceased was identified as Md Raju. He worked as a cook in an apartment on the seventh floor, police said.

He breathed his last around 3:30am at Zainul Haque Sikder Women's Medical College & Hospital (Pvt.) Ltd, Mustakim Badsha, manager of the hospital told The Daily Star.

Badsha said the victim had suffered injuries after jumping off the building.  

The fire ripped through top seven floors of the building after breaking out around 7:00pm yesterday.

Firefighters rescued 11 women, a child and 10 others from the building on road 104.

The blaze was brought under control around 11:00pm last night after four hours of efforts by the firefighters who were joined at one point by the air force and army personnel.
