College student among 2 dead in Mirpur bus-human hauler collision

Two persons including a college student died and five others were injured after a bus and a human hauler collided in Dhaka's Mirpur Beribandh area this (July 31, 2022) afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Zubair (22), a student of Dhaka Commerce College and Rabiul Islam Rubel (37), a scrap material shop trader, both passengers of the human hauler.

Aminul Islam, officer-in-charge of Shah Ali Police Station said the human hauler and the bus collided around 2:00 pm leaving seven persons injured.

They were rushed to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital where Zubair died. Several of the injured were later taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where another injured passed away around 5:00 pm, he said.

Police seized both the bus and human hauler but the bus driver fled. The human hauler driver is among the injured, the OC said.

Rubel used to live in Savar while his wife along with two daughters and a son live in Kushtia, his nephew Babu said.
