Bodies of twins identified, mother still missing

They were on their way to visit their grandfather's house in Barguna's Taltoli upazila. But as luck would have it, four year old twins Samia and Lamia never reached there, as they died in the MV Abhijan-10 launch fire.

Daughters of Shimu Akhter and Rafiq Hossain of Taltoli's Agapara village, the twins were accompanied by mother Shimu and grandmother Dulu Begum as the tragic incident occurred.

After recovering and identifying their bodies, Barguna District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Lutfar Rahman handed them over to the twins' relatives from the morgue of Barguna General Hospital yesterday morning.

Police said Samia and Lamia died on the spot after being badly burnt in the terrible fire, while their mother has gone missing. Meanwhile, their grandmother was

seriously injured and is currently undergoing treatment at Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.

Lamia and Samia's uncle Abdul Hannan said they have received the bodies and will arrange for their burial soon. He also informed their father Rafiq is still at the banks of Sugandha looking for his missing wife.
