Air force sergeant killed in Faridpur road accident

A sergeant of Bangladesh Air Force was killed in a road accident in Faridpur Sadar upazila early today.

Sergeant Abul Bashar (34) of Satkhira's Assasuni upazila was recently transferred to Jashore airport from at Dhaka headquarters.

The accident happened on Dhaka-Khulna highway around 3:00am when he was travelling on a covered van while shifting his furniture and valuables to Jashore, our Faridpur correspondent reports.

Kangkan Kumar Biswas, officer-in-charge of Karimpur Highway Police Outpost, said, "We suspect that the covered van, in which Abul Bashar was travelling, hit a truck from behind. We found the covered van's front part damaged and recovered the body from its left seat."

The van was seized but its driver fled the scene, the police official added.
