5 miraculously survive after container smashes car in Ctg

Five people escaped death by a whisker following an accident in Dhaka-Chattogram highway's Sitakunda upazila this morning.

According to highway police, the incident took place close to the Foujdarhat Cadet College when a container lorry fell on a running private car carrying four members of a family and the driver, flattening the vehicle around 10:30am, reports our local correspondent.

After nearly 30 minutes, all five of them were extricated from the wrecked car.

The vehicle was travelling towards Dhaka when a container lorry suddenly fell on top of it, Belal Uddin Jahangir, officer in charge of Baroawlia Highway Police Station told The Daily Star.

"All the passengers and driver are very lucky as they are still alive and have been freed from the wrecked car after being trapped for more than 20 minutes. The container was empty and all the victims miraculously survived," the OC added.

Social media was flooded with pictures of the accident.
