3 women killed in truck-pickup van collision in Habiganj

Three women were killed and 10 people injured in a collision between a pickup van and a truck on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Habiganj's Bahubal upazila early today.

The deceased were identified as Monjila Begum, 45, Tanjila Begum, 35, and Shahinur Begum, 45, our Moulvibazar correspondent reports quoting Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shaistaganj Highway Police Station Mainul Islam.

The OC said the pickup van, heading towards Hazrat Shahjalal Shrine in Sylhet with 15 passengers, collided head-on with an oncoming truck around 1:00am in Mouchak area.

Three passengers of the pickup van died on the spot, the OC said.

Ten people, including children, were also injured in the accident, the OC said, adding that the injured had been admitted to different local hospitals.
