3 RMG workers burnt in Narayanganj fire

Three ready-made garment workers were burnt in a fire broke out at a flat in Narayanganj's Siddhirganj area last night.

They were identified as Parvez (28), Mamun (27) and Jibon (20), workers of Ananta Apparel Garment Factory, reports our Narayanganj correspondent quoting Ruhul Amin Mollah, senior station officer of Adamji EPZ Fire Service and Civil Defence.

The incident occurred at the fourth floor of a seven story-Adnan Tower at Kadamtali area of Siddhirganj.

Quoting doctors, the fire official said the trio is now undergoing treatment at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery with critical burn injuries. Of them, Parvez and Mamun received 99 percent burns while Jibon sustained 30 percent burn injury.

Fire official Ruhul Amin said on information locals rushed to the spot, rescued them and sent them to the hospital.

However, the fire was extinguished before the fire service personnel reached the spot, he said.

Nothing was found at the spot, he said, adding that they suspect that gas was accumulated at the kitchen of the house. Later, the fire broke out when they went to light the stove for cooking, he added.
