26 injured as picnic bus collides with lorry in Ctg

At least 26 people were injured in a head-on collision between a lorry and a picnic bus bound for Cox's Bazar on the Chattogram-Cox's Bazar Highway in Lohagara upazila early today.

All the injured people are teachers and students of the Political Science Department at Netrokona Government College, our Chattogram staff correspondent reports quoting police.

Alauddin Talukder, in-charge of CMCH Police Camp (district), said that among the injured, three are in critical condition.

The accident happened around 5:30am in the Chianti area as the Saukhin Paribahan bus collided head-on with a salt-laden lorry, injuring the 26 passengers, said Mohammad Hossain, officer-in-charge of Dohazari Highway Police Station in Chattogram.

The injured were sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital and both vehicles were seized, but the drivers fled, he said.
