2 dead in microbus-truck collision in Natore

Two people were killed and three others injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a microbus on Natore-Pabna Highway in Baraigram upazila of Natore today (May 18, 2022).

The deceased were identified as Moniruzzaman (38) of Taltala Pashurhatpara village in Chuadanga Sadar upazila and Al Mahbub (42) of Gaharpur village of the same upazila, our Natore correspondent reports quoting Mashiur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bonpara Highway Police.

OC Mashiur Rahman said the Rajshahi-bound microbus from Chuadanga collided with the Pabna-bound sand laden truck from the opposite direction in Koyen area around 4am, leaving microbus driver Moniruzzaman and its four passengers including Al Mahbub injured.

The injured were taken to hospital where Mahbub died while undergoing treatment, said the police official.

Police seized the truck and microbus but the truck driver and his assistant managed to flee the scene, he added.
