2 children drown in Ctg pond

Two children drowned in a pond near their house while playing in Fatikchhari upazila of Chattogram this noon.

The deceased were identified as Jannatun Nisa (2), daughter of Omar Faruk, and Mim (3), daughter of Nazrul Islam of South Rangamatia village, reports our Chattogram staff correspondent.

Quoting family members, Dr Fatema-tuz-Zohra, emergency medical officer at Fatikchhari Upazila Health Complex, said the two children were playing in the yard of their house around 12pm.

As the family members were not around, they fell into the pond while playing and drowned, said the doctor.

Locals and family members rescued them and took them to the upazila health complex where duty doctors declared them dead around 12:30pm, added the medical officer.
