2 aspiring teachers die in accident on Chandpur-Cumilla regional highway

Two candidates of primary teacher recruitment test were dead as a pickup van collided with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Chandpur-Cumilla regional highway today.

The deceased are Fatema Alam (24), and Abdullah (25) of Hajiganj upazila.

The auto-rickshaw, carrying four passengers, was heading to Chandpur from Hajiganj when the incident happened around 9:30am today (May 20, 2022) in Ghosherhat area of Chandpur Sadar upazila, a correspondent from Chandpur reports.

It collided with a pick-up van coming from the opposite direction, leaving Fatema dead on the spot and the three others injured.

Abdullah succumbed to his injuries at Chandpur General Hospital.

Two injured – Amena Akhter (25), another candidate, and her father ATM Yasin (65) -- received primary treatment at Chandpur General Hospital.

Chandpur Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdur Rashid confirmed the accident.
