1 dead in Matuail road accident

A man died and another was injured after a bus hit their motorcycle on Dhaka-Chattogram Highway in Dhaka's Matuail area this afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Abul Kashem (60), employee of a chocolate factory in Karwan Bazar area.

The two on the motorbike fell on the road and Kashem sustained severe head injuries, injured Rubel Hossain said. Kashem was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead around 2:30pm, he said.

Rubel Hossain, nephew of the deceased, received minor injuries and took treatment at DMCH.

Rubel said they were heading to their village in Narayanganj's Sonargaon when the bus hit their motorbike around 1:00pm near a filling station in Matuail.

The body was sent to the hospital morgue for an autopsy and police were trying to identify the bus, said Samsul Alam, a sub-inspector of Jatrabari Police Station.
