Babunagari remanded again

This May 7 photo shows law enforcers take Hefajat-e Islam Secretary General Junaid Babunagari to a court in the capital.

A Dhaka court placed Hefajat-e Islam Secretary General Junaid Babunagari on a 22-day remand on Thursday in connection with three cases.

He was placed on four-day remand in connection with a murder case filed for killing a police official while the Hefajat men were driven out of Shapla Chattar in the early hours on May 6.

On May 7, the Hefajat leader was placed on a nine-day remand in connection with the case which completed today (Thursday).

The Hefajat leader was placed on a nine-day remand on Thursday in a case for attacking police during a post-blockade rally in Paltan on May 5.

He was placed on another nine-day remand in a vandalism case filed for damaging public properties and vehicles on the day.

Metropolitan Magistrate Mostafizur Rahman passed the order after police produced Babunagari before him after completion of a nine-day remand. The police also sought fresh remand for the Hefajat man in the murder case.

All the three cases were filed with Motijheel Police Station on May 6.

The Hefajat leader was show arrested in the police attack and vandalism cases on Thursday.

Police arrested Babunagari at Lalbagh area on May 6 after thousands of Hefajat activists resorted to violence in downtown Dhaka on May 5.
