Away from home, in fear of Jamaat attack

Fearing more attacks, the convener of Gonojagoron Mancha in Panchbibi upazila of Joypurhat could not yet return home though 10 days have passed since Jamaat-Shibir men attacked his house.
Around 200-300 Jamaat-Shibir activists set fire to his house around 9:30am on March 3, chanting slogans against him, said Sumon Chowdhury, the convener.
“I cannot stay at my house after the attack. Along with my wife and children, I am now living with my in-laws,” he told The Daily Star yesterday.
Jamaat-Shibir activists and other religious fanatics vandalised several establishments in the area, including Panchbibi Police Station.
Sumon has filed a case against 200-300 unknown attackers led by Jamaat-Shibir men.
Jamaat-Shibir men unleashed terror across the country over the February 28 death sentence to their leader Delawar Hossain Sayedee on war crimes charges.
