West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, noted for her unique ways to connect with people, was seen serving "fuchka", a popular street snack among Bangalees, to children and a tourist from Bangladesh in Darjeeling today.

A video of the incident, which happened at a popular hill resort in Darjeeling, has already gone viral and created a stir, reports our New Delhi correspondent.

The chief minister was attending a haat where she was serving fuchka to people at a stall, including children, when the presence of a Bangladeshi tourist at the resort enthused her.

She found out during her conversation with the women of the stall that a man had come from Bangladesh to visit Darjeeling.

"O Bangladesh theke eseche, amader atithi, okey (fuchka) dao, ami poisha diye dichchi (He has come all the way from Bangladesh, he is our guest. Give him [fuchka], I will pay)," Mamata was heard saying in the video.

Soon afterward, Mamata was seen smashing potatoes and stuffing inside the fuchka, readying the popular street food before serving them to the tourist, and children who stood holding plates, the more than two-minute-long video showed, shared on social media by ANI.

As Mamata served the snack, locals were seen clicking photos of the West Bengal CM.

Mamata is in Darjeeling to attend the oath-taking ceremony of the newly-elected board of Gorkhaland Territorial Army (GTA).

A video of her interaction with the locals has been posted by the Trinamool Congress on its Facebook page.

Earlier, Mamata was seen dancing with tribal women at one place and stuffing momos at another.
