PK Halder likely to be produced before Kolkata court tomorrow

Prashanto Kumar Halder, former MD of NRB Global Bank who is accused of laundering huge sums of money, is likely to be produced before a court in Kolkata tomorrow (May 17, 2022) when India's Enforcement Directorate is expected to seek extension of his remand in its custody.

Bangladesh Deputy High Commission sources confirmed the matter to our New Delhi correspondent today.

This would be the first time Halder would appear in the Prevention of Money Laundering Act court since his arrest by ED on Saturday (May14, 2022).

Earlier after his arrest, Halder was remanded to three-day custody with the ED on the basis of an application by the Indian agency.

Halder's arrest in Ashok Nagar in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal came a day after the ED raided 11 locations linked Halder and five of his associates on Friday (May 13, 2022).
