Tagore in the digital era

The legendary works of Rabindranath Tagore have been published in the form of a digital archive recently in Kolkata. It was unveiled during a ceremony held at Rabindra Sadan. It comprises of around three and a half thousand poems and songs composed by the great bard of Bengal. The event was embellished by the presence of the eminent poet Shankha Ghosh, Professor Dr Pabitra Sarkar, Bangladeshi Deputy Ambassador Toufiq Hasan, Vice-Chancellor of Visva-Bharati University Dr Sabuj Koli Sen along with other renowned names in the field from both the Bengals.

After five long years, Dr Purnendu Bikash Sarkar finally presented his brainchild titled Rabindrakabita Archive, an audio-visual archive which has the contributions of 245 various artistes, out of whom 35 are from Bangladesh. Former Vice-Chancellor of Visva-Bharati University, Pabitra Sarkar said that this kind of an initiative is a first of its kind, and is rather necessary for the Bengali community around the world.
