Shilpakala's Homage to Bangabandhu

An array of programmes at BSA

Marking the 43rd National Mourning Day 2018, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) arranged an array of programmes including an art camp, art exhibition, film screening, discussions and more.

Directed by Warda Rehab, a dance drama titled Jotodin Robey Padma Meghna was staged on the opening day. A movement named Shilpajatra saw hundreds of Baul artists march towards Bangabandhu's mausoleum at Tungipara, Gopalganj from Dhaka, to pay tribute to the Father of the Nation.

Members of Mahakal Natya Sampradaya staged Srabon Tragedy at the Experimental Theatre Hall of BSA, while artistes of Loko Natyadal staged Mujib Maney Mukti at the National Music and Dance Centre Auditorium on August 16.

A discussion, along with poetry recitation on Bangabandhu titled Shrabon-er Shokogantha took place on August 17. Renowned actor Hasan Imam, noted elocutionists Bhashwar Bandopadhyay, Rupa Chakrabarty, Dalia Ahmed, Hasan Arif, Shimul Yousuf, Mahidul Islam, Mazumder Biplab and others recited poems on the occasion.

A week-long art exhibition displaying works produced at the art camp concluded at the National art Gallery of BSA. Former Governor of Bangladesh Bank, Dr Atiur Rahman attended the inaugural ceremony as chief guest while Liaquat Ali Lucky, DG, BSA, presided over the programme.
