Gold Gilding Workshop concludes at Britto

Britto Art Trust organised Gold Gilding Workshop 2018, together with an open studio at its space in Green Road, Dhaka. Britto's current residency artist, Kathrina Rudolph conducted the workshop.

Kathrina, who completed her diploma from the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg and Munich, Germany, has received awards of the Bavarian Ministry of State for Science, Research and Art in 2002 and 2004. Moreover, Rudolph took part artist residencies in Finland and Bangladesh and held her solo and group exhibitions in Germany, Finland and Bangladesh. Nowadays she lives in Augsburg, Germany where she works as an art teacher and artist.

The workshop continued for a week and concluded with an open studio. “I tried to teach a very old technique from the middle ages,” says Kathrina, “gold gilding is very hard to understand as it requires a range of materials and several step-by-step technical processes to follow.”

The participating artists at the workshop were Arpita Singha Lopa, Bipasha Hayat, Farah Naz Moon, Murshed Jahangir, Sumana Akter, Suborna Morsheada, Sarah Jabin, Yasmin Jahan Nupur, Promotesh Das Pulak, Lutfun Nahar, Najmun Nahar Keya and Reetu Sattar. 

Britto Arts Trust, a non-profit organisation, was founded in 2002 in Dhaka. Britto is a part of the worldwide Triangle Network and members of South Asian Network for Artists (SANA) that includes KHOJ, Delhi, VASL, Karachi and Theertha, Colombo.
