Aggrieved JCD men blast cocktails at Ctg BNP office

Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal activists angered at being deprived of positions in the newly formed Chittagong city unit committee allegedly exploded four cocktails in front of the BNP office in the city.
A madrasa student walking on the road during the blasts at Kazir Dewri around 12:30pm was injured, reports our Chittagong correspondent.
AKM Mohiuddin Selim, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, said they had heard that aggrieved JCD activists blasted cocktails in front of the city BNP office.
Meanwhile, a protest rally led by Dr Shahadat Hossain, BNP general secretary of the port city unit, was held inside the office around 10:00am Thursday.
Around 150 activists of JCD, student wing of BNP, broke into BNP’s Chittagong city unit office at Nasimon Bhaban, torched some furniture and exploded two cocktails before leaving the office on Wednesday.
They were demanding cancellation of JCD’s new 11-member Chittagong city unit committee, declared after 10 years on July 21, claiming that the committee comprised non-students.
Two cocktails also exploded during a chase and counter chase between the supporters of JCD.
The demonstrators were demanding cancellation of JCD’s Central Committee over accusations that 90 percent of its members were non-students.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia approved the 291-member Central Committee on April 15.
