50 workers hospitalised after drinking water at workplace in Ashulia

Over 50 workers of a leather factory at Durgapur in Ashulia, on the outskirts of the capital, were hospitalised after drinking the water supplied by the factory yesterday afternoon.
The workers of Letherex Footwear Industries Ltd fell ill one after another, workers said.
The sick workers were taken to nearby Gonoshastho Kendra Hospital, and Centre for Women and Child Health with severe headache and stomach pain.
Rafiqul Islam, manager of Centre for Women and Child Health, quoting doctors, said, “It may be water contamination or Hysteria.”
The factory Admin Manager Zakir Hasan said they would find out the reason behind the incident. Following the matter, the authorities closed the factory for the day.
