5 Jagpa men arrested in Panchagarh

Police arrested five activists of Jatiya Gonotantrik Party (Jagpa) in Panchagarh town during the daylong shutdown enforced by the party's district unit yesterday.
The unit called the hartal demanding release of Jagpa President Shafiul Alam Prodhan, who hails from the district. He was arrested from in front of BNP Chairperson's Khaleda Zia's Gulshan office on Monday night.
The arrestees are Jagpa district unit leaders Md Shamsuzzaman Nayan, Hamidur Rahman Abdul Khalek, Moniruzzaman Ratan and Md Sohel. They were picked up from different areas of the town.
Jagpa activists blocked traffic by burning tyres on roads and brought out processions in Panchagarh municipality area. Shops and educational institutions remained closed while vehicles were off the roads during hartal hours.
