Robbers kill expatriate in Comilla

Robbers killed an expatriate by slitting his throat and looted valuables from his house in Nangalkot upazila on Comilla early Thursday.

The deceased, Tazul Islam, 60, has been leaving in Oman for the last 30 years.

Tazul was murdered just four hours after he reached home at Bahura village from Oman in the 12midnight, reports our Comilla correspondent.

Tazul's wife Morzina Begum said a gang of 12 to 15 masked robbers entered the house, when Tazul opened the door for going to toilet at about 3:45am.

Being resisted, the bandits attacked Tazul with sharp weapons and slit his throat, leaving him dead on the spot, she said.

They looted Tk 2.50 lakh cash, five tolas of gold ornaments and four mobile phone set before leaving the house, the wife said.

Previous enmity might be the reason behind the killing, said Swapan Debnath, officer-in-charge of Nangalkot Police Station.

The body was sent to Comilla Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. A case was filed.
