Preview of “Bangladesh Hospital ‘71” held

A preview of the documentary “Bangladesh Hospital '71” was held at Sanskriti Bikash Kendra, Paribagh, Dhaka on July 25.
Bangladesh Hospital '71 was set up at Bisramganj in Tripura, India to treat and rehabilitate wounded freedom fighters during the Liberation War.
Bengali doctors, medical students and enthusiasts women keen on serving the wounded as nurses founded the first hospital of Bangladesh.
This significant part of the Liberation War is unknown to many. Habib Wahid, editor of the little magazine “Aninda,” decided to make the documentary with an aim to inform the post-war generations.
The documentary unearths several untold stories of the war.
In August 1971, Khaled Mosharraf, Commander of Sector 2, allocated Tk 50,000 and authorised Dr. Major Akhter Ahmed to set up a hospital. The makeshift hospital of bamboo and wood saved many lives during the war.
