Recruit docs, engineers from Bangladesh

President Zillur Rahman yesterday urged the Namibian government to recruit skilled professionals, including physicians and engineers, from Bangladesh for accelerating its socio-economic development process.
He made the observation when newly appointed High Commissioner of Namibia Marten Nenkete Kapewasha presented his credentials to him at Bangabhaban in the city.
President Zillur welcomed the new envoy, based in Delhi, and expressed his satisfaction over the existing “excellent” relations between Bangladesh and Namibia.
He hoped that the two countries would work together at different international forums for promoting their mutual interests and also for establishing global peace like the previous years.
The president said the Namibian government could use expertise and technological support from the pharmaceutical sector here to fight various health hazards, including HIV/AIDS.
He also called on Namibia to import world-class products, including readymade garments, jute, textile, leather and pharmaceutical products, from Bangladesh at competitive prices.
The Namibian envoy sought the president's support in performing his new duties.
Foreign Secretary Touhid Hossain, Secretary to President's Office Mohammad Shafiul Alam, Military Secretary to President Maj Gen Md Ehtesham Ul Haque and President's Press Secretary Abdul Awal Howlader were present during the meeting.
Earlier, on his arrival at Bangabhaban, a smart contingent of President Guard Regiment gave guard of honour to the high commissioner.
