Srimongal BNP leader's property attached

Police have seized all the movable property of Srimongal upazila BNP president Mohsin Miah Modhu, also a former chairman of Srimongal Pourasabha, for his failure to appear before a court here despite repeated summons.
Police seized his property on Sunday night, according to the court order.
Modhu is an absconding accused in a case filed by Afzal Haque, former chairman of Srimongal Union Parishad (UP). In his allegation, he said that Modhu had illegally occupied his fruit garden by force, said
Srimongal Police station officer-in-charge (OC) Mohammed Zaker Hussain. As Modhu Miah is not attending the court, police seized his movable property as per court order.
A police team ointly led by sub-inspector (SI) Nurul Islam and SI Nazrul Islam went to Modhu's luxurious house at Dhan-Siri residential area in the upazila town Sunday night. They seized 29 items of movable property from the house.
The seizure list included three sets of Sofa made of segun timber, three show cases, three box khat, two refrigerators, one oven, and two dressing tables. Modhu's brother Md Selim Miah was present at that time.
The BNP leader's name has been enlisted in the Anti Corruption Commission's (ACC) list of 35 most corrupt persons published on October 4.
