Badruddoza, Mannan resign from party posts

Bkilpa Dhara Bangladesh (BDB) president Dr AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury and secretary general Maj (retd) Abdul Mannan yesterday resigned from their party posts for debacle of the party in the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) elections, says a press release.
Later, Dr Chowdhury was made chief adviser of the party and Maj (retd) Mannan was made its adviser.
BDB, at a presidium meeting held at its office in Dhaka city yesterday, congratulated Awami League (AL) and grand alliance led by Sheikh Hasina for their historic win in the ninth parliamentary elections. B Chowdhury presided the meeting.
The meeting decided to make presidium member Nurul Amin Bapery acting president of the party and Mahi B Chowdhury its acting secretary general. The meeting also expelled Principal Abdur Rashid from party posts for his anti-party activities.
Dr Badruddoza came out third in Munshiganj-1 constituency securing 37,709 votes only where AL candidate Sukumar Ranjan Ghosh won securing 1,44,159 votes. In Dhaka-6 seat, he lost his security money by bagging 5,215 votes only.
