Khaleda Zia claims to be self-educated

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has claimed to be self-educated in the affidavit attached with her nomination paper submitted for the Bogra-6 constituency.
She did not mention any information about formal education.
But a book published by the Parliament Secretariat on lawmakers of the eighth parliament says she studied at Dinajpur Govt Girls' School and Surendra Nath College.
The book was published under supervision of Speaker Jamir Uddin Sircar. Before its publication all the then members of parliament (MPs) were asked to provide information about them, including their educational qualifications.
Like other MPs, Khaleda also provided her information where she had described her academic records.
According to the amended Representation of People Order (RPO), candidatures of those who would put false information in their affidavit would be cancelled by the Election Commission (EC).
In her affidavit, Khaleda gave accounts of her assets. She said she got 50 tolah of gold and ornaments as gifts when she got married. She did not, however, mention the amount of her ornaments.
The affidavit, singed by Notary Public Md Monzur Hossain Patweari, says the BNP chairperson has cash Tk 36.53 lakh and also Tk 2.75 crore deposited in different banks and institutions.
About cases filed against her, Khaleda said the High Court suspended proceedings of four out of five cases, while she is cleared of charges in another case.
