Mayar Khela staged on Ranada’s birthday

Students of Bharateswari Homes stage “Mayar Khela.”

Students of Bharateswari Homes, a residential girls school at Mirzapur, Tangail, on Saturday staged “Mayar Khela”, a dance drama by Rabindranath Tagore, on the occasion of the 112th birth anniversary of Raibahadur Ranada Prasad Saha, the founder of Kumudini Welfare Trust.
Sanchita Saha, Purnapama Puja, Rakhi Chanda, Sajia Afreen, Marufa Fahaddi and others participated in the dance.
Popularly known as R P Saha, the illustrious philanthropist Ranada Prasad was also the founder of the famous Kumudini Hospital, Kumudini College and many other educational institutions.
Ranada Prasad Saha was born on November 15, 1896. The date coincided with Uthyan Ekadashi of 1306 of the Bangla calendar. His birthday is therefore celebrated on Uthyan Ekadashi.
Ranada Saha founded the Kumudini Welfare Trust of Bengal in the early 1940s. The trust founded the Shovasundari Ousadhalay, Kumudini Hospital, and Bharateswari Homes at Mirzapur. People were provided with services at these establishments free of cost. The trust also founded Kumudini College, Tangail as well as Devendra College, Manikganj, and supported many other educational institutions.
During the Liberation War in 1971, the Pakistan occupation army abducted Ranada and his son, Bhabniprasad (Robi). Their whereabouts were to remain unknown. Ranada's grandson, Rajib Prasad, is today at the helm of the trust and the charitable institutions.
