Bagerhat polls campaign dull as 2 leaders convicted

Election campaign in Bagerhat district is yet to get any noticeable progress as Awami League leader Sheikh Helaluddin, former lawmaker elected from Bagerhat-1 and district BNP President MAH Selim, former lawmaker elected from Bagerhat-2 are convicted in corruption cases.
Sheikh Rehana, sister of Awami League President Sheikh Hasina, or barrister Fazle Noor Taposh, son of late Fazlul Huq Moni, founder of Jubo League, may be fielded as candidate in Bagerhat-1 (Mollahat-Fakirhat-Chitalmari) constituency, party sources said.
Tuku, former additional IGP Abdur Rahim Khan and former VP of Rajshahi University Students Union advocate Mir Shawkat Ali are also seeking nomination from Awami League-led 14-party alliance from Bagerhat-2.
District BNP Senior Vice President Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Bagerhat District Bar Association President Wahiduzzaman Dipuare are vying for nomination from Bagerhat-2 (Sadar upazila-Kachua) constituency in absence of former BNP lawmaker Selim who is now in jail.
Ruby Mostafiz, wife of former foreign minister ASM Mostafizur Rahman, is also an aspirant for four-party alliance ticket from Bagerhat-2.
