EX-MP Beltu expelled from Jhenidah district BNP

Jhenidah district BNP at a meeting yesterday expelled former lawmaker and district BNP senior vice president reformist leader Shahiduzzaman Beltu from the district committee.
A press release issued after the meeting said the district committee expelled Beltu and sent a copy of the resolution to the party central committee seeking approval.
The press release said besides siding with the reformists, Beltu was involved in corruption which tarnished the party image.
Held at the district party office, the meeting was presided over by Kaliganj Pourasabha Mayor Mahbubur Rahman.
After his expulsion, Kaliganj Mayor Mahbubar Rahman was nominated convenor and Aynal, Tabibur Rahman Mini, Moshiur Rahman, Ashraf Uddin, Abdul Hye, Ashrafuzzaman Lal made joint convenors. A new 33-member committee of Kaliganj upazila BNP was also formed at the meeting attended by all leaders and activists.
The resolution expelling Beltu has been sent to the party central committee for approval, District BNP acting president advocate Kazi Alaol Haq Alo told newsmen after the meeting.
A contractor by profession, Shahiduzzaman Beltu joined BNP from Jatiya Party (Ershad).
Two extortion cases were lodged against him with Kaligonj police station on August 26 and September 12 last year.
