Withdraw 'false' case by JMB cadre

Bagmara Jubo League leader demands

A Jubo League leader of Bangmara yesterday demanded immediate withdrawal of a 'false' case filed by a top cadre of Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) against him and his family members.
Bangmara Upazila Jubo League organising secretary Siraj Iftekhar Mithu, demanded this while addressing a press conference at Rajshahi Metropolitan Press Club.
He also demanded arrest and punishment to the JMB cadre, Mansur Rahman, who filed the case with a court here to take revenge against him because what he said for filing an extortion case against him and 56 other cadres of the banned organisation with a first class magistrate court here on September 17.
He said he filed the case because the JMB cadres put pressure on him to join their organisation, Mithu said. He further said they had created pressure on him to hand over his business establishment including Rokeya Filing Station to Bangla Bhai and his second in command Sattar Master in March, 2004. For failure, the JMB cadres threatened of the dire consequence, Mithu said.
The JMB cadres set fire to his house and looted the belongings when he fled away elsewhere in fear of the JMB cadres,' Mithu said. At that time, they tortured his family members, he alleged.
Mithu said after take over of the caretaker government and execution of Bangla Bhai, he filed the extortion case against the JMB cadres.
In revenge, JMB cadre Mansur filed the case accusing him, his father and elder brother terming them outlaws, he said demanding withdrawal of the 'false' case.
Mithu's father Abdus Sobhan Chowdhury, also president of Bagmara upazila Awami League (AL), his relatives Zakirul Islam Shanthu, general secretary of Bangmara upazila AL and Yasin Ali Master, vice president of Bangmara upazila AL were present at the press conference.
