Gaibandha govt college closed

Gaibandha Government College was declared closed till Thursday as hundreds of students brought out a procession yesterday demanding arrested of outsider toll collectors who attacked students at a hostel Monday evening.
Police said, on Monday some armed local hoodlums entered a privately run hostel of the college at Sarkerpara and demanded toll from some inmates. Two of the students--Rasel and Jwel-were injured and admitted to Gaibandha Sadar Hospital. A case was filed with Gaibandha Sader police station.
Yesterday, the students gathered on college campus and brought out a procession and staged a sit-in in front of the police station demanding arrest of culprits. Police officials assured them of arresting the culprits.
The students later brought out another procession and paraded Gaibandha town streets. Police charged batons on them at the Station Road and picked up five of the students.
As students' agitation continued, the college authorities declared the college closed till Thursday.
