New Unicef representative presents credentials

The newly appointed Unicef Country Representative Carel de Rooy yesterday presented his credentials to Foreign Adviser Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury in the city.
Rooy has replaced Louis-Georges Arsenault who was appointed as the Unicef director of emergency programmes, says a press release.
Prior to his new assignment in Dhaka, Rooy was based in Moscow, serving as the area representative for Russia and Belarus. He spearheaded Unicef's country programmes focusing on vulnerable children and led the humanitarian response in North Caucasus.
Rooy first joined the Unicef in 1984 as the chief of water and sanitation section of the organisation in Nigeria.
