Bangali Shamagra to publish a book on M. Abdus Samad

Bangali Shamagra, an institution that works to preserve and display works of eminent Bengalis, has taken an initiative to publish a commemorative book on noted cinematographer and filmmaker Mohammad Abdus Samad, says a press release.
In this regard Bangali Shamagra requests individuals, who had associated with M. Abdus Samad personally or were his well-wishers, to send writings on his life and works at the Bangali Shamagra office.
The address of Bangali Shamagra is: Khayer Mansion, 235/2, Elephant Road, Dhaka-1205. The book is expected to be published on 4th death anniversary of Samad in October this year.
Incidentally, today is M. Abdus Samad's 71st birthday.
Samad began his career as a cinematographer in UK, after completing a diploma on cinematography from there. After returning home in 1963, Samad initially worked as a cinematographer. Eventually he emerged as a film director in 1973.
It should be mentioned that Samad worked as a trainee cinematographer in Academy Award wining movies The Guns of Navarone and The Bridge on the River Kwai.
Among Samad's notable works as a cinematographer in the country are Aasiya, Roopban, Ora Egaro Jon, Shangram and more. Samad directed Shurja Shangram and Shurjagrahan.
