Nizami taken to hospital for back pain

Detained Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Motiur Rahman Nizami was admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) for back pain yesterday.
The former industries minister was brought to the hospital from Dhaka Central Jail at about 2:00pm, Deputy Inspector General of Prisons Maj Shamsul Haider Siddique told The Daily Star.
Earlier on Saturday, Nizami and three detained BNP leaders--former ministers M Shamsul Islam and Mirza Abbas and ex-MP Fazlul Huq Milon--had had check-ups at the BSMMU, following which doctors recommended his hospitalisation.
Fourteen high-profile prisoners arrested on corruption charges have so far been hospitalised.
