Gungor blow for Turkey

Turkey suffered a blow ahead of Friday's Euro 2008 quarterfinal with Croatia in Vienna when it was announced by the Turkish Football Federation that key defender Emre Gungor was out of the tournament because of a calf injury.
The 23-year-old Galatasaray star suffered the injury during the epic Group A match with the Czech Republic, which saw the Turks come from 2-0 down to win 3-2, scoring twice in the last three minutes.
There is also a serious doubt over another pillar of their defence in Servet Cetin, who aggravated left knee and hip injuries against the Czechs, though, he had insisted on playing in both that match and the previous one, the 2-1 win over Switzerland.
A final decision on whether he plays against Croatia -- who made it a perfect three wins from three on Monday with a 1-0 win over Poland -- at the last minute.
Strikers Semih Senturk and Nihat Kahveci, the latter having propelled them past the Czechs with a double strike, have less serious injuries and should be fit to take their place against the Croats.
Midfielder Tumer Metin is still not able to train but regular captain Emre Belozoglu's injury -- which kept him out of the Czech match -- is healing rapidly.
