86 ex-BNP MPs back Delwar

Eighty-six former MPs of BNP yesterday extended their full support to party Secretary General Khandaker Delwar Hossain and expressed indignation at remarks by certain senior leaders against him.
In a joint statement, the former lawmakers said indecorous remarks and insinuation are being made against Delwar at a time when leaders and workers of all tiers of the party stood united working with him at the instruction of detained party Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
“The indecorous remarks by those leaders have disappointed the nationalist forces of BNP and the country," says the statement.
The former MPs observed that the objectionable and confusing speeches and statements made by a few senior leaders to the electronic and print media are "harming the image of the party and serving the purpose of certain quarters" at a time when national leaders including Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman are in jail.
They urged those leaders to refrain from making such remarks or statements in the interest of the party and the country.
