BGTF celebrates Chaitra Shankranti

Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation (BGTF) arranged a special programme to observe 'Chaitra Shankranti', the last day of the Bengali year, at the Mahila Samity Stage.
Lighting a mangal pradeep, Cultural Adviser Rasheda K. Chowdhury inaugurated Chaitra Shankranti celebration, which was followed by songs performed by Luva Nahid Chowdhury and Shimul Yousuf.
Afroza Banu, Falguni Hamid, Rokeya Rafiq Baby, Krishti Hefaz and Jhuna Chowdhury were the discussants at the programme. The event was presided over by M. Hamid, the president of BGTF.
The discussion was followed by a cultural programme. Ustad Shahadat Hossain Khan and his troupe presented a sarod performance. Other attractions at the programme were dance performances by the artistes of Jago Art Centre and Akriti Academy. Moreover, Ahkamullah and Jharna Sarkar presented recitation. Because of the power cuts, other scheduled performances could not be staged.
Since 2002 BGTF has been regularly arranging the Chaitra Shankranti programme at the Mahila Samity Stage.
