Nomination papers submitted

Pro-Awami League 'Blue panel' and BNP-Jamaat-backed 'White panel' teachers of Dhaka University (DU) submitted nomination papers on Monday night for the election of 15-member executive committee of Dhaka University Teachers' Association (Duta).
The election will be held on March 27. Prof Dalem Chandra Barmon will act as election commissioner.
Earlier the election was deferred several times due to internal feud.
The left leaning 'Pink panel' is supporting the 'Blue panel' and none of its candidates are contesting in the polls.
Duta General Secretary Prof Anwar Hossain from Blue panel and incumbent Duta President Prof Sadrul Amin from White panel are running for the post of president.
Prof Mohammad Samad from Blue panel and Prof Sirajul Islam from White panel are running for the post of general secretary.
Prof Aktarujjaman, Prof Ashraf Uddin Chowdhury, Prof Kamal Uddin from Blue panel and Prof Layla Nur Islam, Prof ABM Obaidul Islam and Prof Abul Hasnat from White panel are running for the post of vice-president, treasure and joint secretary respectively.
Candidates running for membership from Blue Panel are Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique, Prof Harun-or-Rashid, Prof Nim Chandra Bhowmic, Prof Abul Barakat, Prof SM Imamul Haque, Prof Mahibur Rahman, Prof Jaheda Ahmed, Prof Makbul Hossein Bhuya, Prof Badrul Imam and Dr Zinat Huda.
And candidates running for membership from White panel are Prof Shajahan Miah, Prof Tasmeri SA Islam, Prof UAB Razia Akter Banu, Prof Mamun Ahmed, Prof Abdul Halim, Prof Samsuddin Ahmed, Prof AA Sahabuddin Chowdhury, Prof Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Prof Tahmina Akter and Prof Lutfur Rahman.
