Bomb kills US soldier in Iraq

A roadside bomb has killed an American soldier and wounded two others in central south Iraq, the US command in the country said yesterday.
The device exploded during a combat patrol on Tuesday not far from the city of Diwaniyah, about 180 kilometres south of Baghdad, a statement said without giving details.
The latest death brings the US military's death toll since the March 2003 invasion of Iraq to 3,984, according to an AFP tally based on independent website www.icasualties.org.
